INDUSTRY LEADERS PARTNER TO BRING INDOOR TANNING AND FDA-CLEARED, CLINICALLY PROVEN LIGHT THERAPY TECHNOLOGY TOGETHER
INDIANAPOLIS –
Two world-leading companies in their respective fields have come
together to create the first-to-market indoor tanning bed that will
feature FDA-cleared, clinically proven light therapy technology to
reduce fine lines and wrinkles as it rejuvenates the face and neck area.
Bill
Pipp, CEO of Indianapolis-based ETS Tan, the global leader in
manufacturing and distributing indoor tanning beds, has partnered with
Sue D’Arcy, president of Carlsbad, Calif.- headquartered Photo
Therapeutics, the world leader in light therapy technology and creator
of Omnilux medical-grade light therapy products, to introduce the new Rejuvasun™ with Omnilux™.
Anti-aging
and skin rejuvenation products and services are popular right now.
Market research indicates women and men alike are more educated on the
subject and seek less invasive or noninvasive, affordable alternatives
to dermatologist and plastic surgeon procedures.
“Strategically,
it’s a perfect fit for us,” Pipp said. “ETS Tan is constantly looking
for ways to innovate its existing products and assimilate other
technologies into our indoor tanning beds to make them as valuable as
possible for our clients and their customers.”
Rejuvasun
with Omnilux is a commercial spa bed that features FDA-cleared,
medically proven light therapy facial panels. Consumers have the option
to experience light therapy sessions alone or with full body tanning.
The new product is the second generation of the Rejuvasun spa bed that
ETS debuted in late 2006.
Omnilux
light therapy technology has been proven in independent clinical
studies to rejuvenate the skin, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and
stimulate production of collagen and elastin by using visible red LED
lights at 633 nanometer wavelengths and invisible, near-infrared LEDs
at 830 nanometer wavelengths.
“It’s
a proven combination that is the most effective program for skin
improvement — to stimulate the body’s natural production of collagen,”
said D’Arcy of Photo Therapeutics. “To make claims like these, clinical
data is needed. We have that data, which is helping us move from the
medical side to the beauty side of things. Consumers deserve to have
access to the benefits of all that research.”
Rejuvasun
with Omnilux uses the same technology as its parent device, Photo
Therapeutics’ Omnilux Light Therapy system, which is used extensively
by thousands of dermatologists and plastic surgeons worldwide, D’Arcy
said. According to clinical studies by Photo Therapeutics, after just
12 weeks of sessions, nearly 85 percent of users reported improved skin
tone while 74 percent of users reported visible reductions of fine
lines and wrinkles.
Through
light therapy, or photomodulation as it’s more properly known, the body
stimulates its own cellular mechanisms and improves the firmness of the
skin, skin tone and skin clarity, D’Arcy said. It can be used to treat
a wide range of dermatological conditions including acne, photodamage
and wound healing after elective surgery.
A dramatic move from the medical world to the consumer beauty industry was a natural for D’Arcy’s company, she said.
“We’re
excited about the opportunity to offer medically proven technology to
consumers through salon and spa owners throughout the world and ETS Tan
is the right partner for pursuing that opportunity,” D’Arcy said. “No
one knows this business better than Bill Pipp and his entire ETS team.”
D’Arcy
added the partnership with ETS Tan also “allows salon visitors access
to the same light therapy treatments they would receive in a
dermatologist’s office at an affordable price.”
“We
are always looking for creative ways to deliver health- and
wellness-oriented services without necessarily needing additional staff
or expertise,” Pipp said. “With FDA-cleared light therapy technology,
we will accomplish that mission and help our salon clients attract new
customers who wouldn’t normally visit a tanning salon while retaining
current ones who can satisfy all of their needs in one place, which is
more cost- and time-effective.”
“Tanning
is phototherapy, really,” D’Arcy said. “This is a natural progression
for both Bill’s field and mine. The best part is that light therapy has
many applications that we haven’t yet discovered. It has a great
future.”
