Light therapy is delivered using different wavelengths of light. Human eyes see
different wavelengths as different light colors. Each color has a different
healing effect:
Red Light
Increases collagen production in the skin and stimulates repair
mechanisms in the skin and increases circulation to the skin, which in
turn delivers more oxygen and nutrients to the skin. Red light
penetrates deeper than other wavelengths of light and stimulates
fibroblast cells and is associated with stimulating cell growth.
Yellow Light
Is associated with promoting wound healing and increases lymphatic flow to evacuate more waste products.
Green Light
Decreases melanin production and has a lightening or bleaching affect
that is often seen in chemical peel and bleaching products. For
tanners, green light actually lightens the skin.
